Homebirth
Empowering Women with Ancient Wisdom & Modern Care

After many years of walking alongside families through the sacred rite of birth, my path as a midwife is evolving. I am no longer attending births full-time, but instead deepening into the ceremonial, educational, and spiritual aspects of this calling—guiding through teaching, community offerings, and clinical root cause support. While I continue to serve as a homebirth midwife, this offering is now deeply selective and sacred. I prioritize repeat clients, friends, and families with whom I feel a mutual resonance and soul alignment. This is no longer simply a service—it is a sacred relationship. Midwifery, for me, is not just a profession; it is a devotion, an ancestral inheritance, and a spiritual responsibility. I hold the sanctity of this work with deep reverence and am being intentionally discerning to protect the medicine of birth and the well-being of my own spirit. If you feel a strong calling to walk this path with me, you are welcome to apply for care. Trust that I will be listening with my whole heart.

This sacred journey begins with an application process. If you feel called to receive this kind of care, I invite you to complete the application above. This helps us both discern whether we are aligned energetically, spiritually, and practically—for this intimate passage. My midwifery care is rooted in trust, respect, and deep connection. If we’re meant to walk this path together, you’ll know. And so will I.
FAQ
Are you currently accepting homebirth clients?
Yes — I am receiving inquiries for homebirth, but my offerings have shifted. I am now prioritizing repeat clients, beloveds in my circle, and families who feel deeply soul-aligned with my ceremonial and holistic approach to birth. If you feel called, you are welcome to submit an application for care.
Why are you offering homebirth care more selectively now?
After over a decade of catching babies across the country, I am transitioning from full-time midwifery into a rhythm that centers ceremony, community, teaching, and soul care. My devotion to midwifery remains profound, but I am now protecting this sacred art — and my own spirit — by saying yes only when it is a deeply mutual calling. This is not about exclusivity, but integrity.
What kind of midwifery care do you offer?
My offerings are rooted in both clinical excellence and sacred feminine wisdom. Homebirth care includes:
• Monthly prenatal visits until 28 weeks
• Bi-weekly visits from 28 to 36 weeks
• Weekly visits from 36 to 41+ weeks
• In-home birth with myself and a birth assistant
• Immediate postpartum care (3–4 hours)
• Day 1, 3 & 5 in-home postpartum visits
• 2 & 6 week follow-ups (sometimes more depending on families needs)
• Nutritional support, prenatal labs, and ultrasounds
• Access to childbirth education, placenta encapsulation, belly binding, yoni steaming herbs, and postpartum ceremony options
Do you offer hospital transfer support?
Yes. On average, 1 in 10 clients transfer to the hospital during labor — the majority are non-emergent. We create a clear, empowering plan during prenatal care to ensure you feel prepared and supported in the rare case that transfer becomes necessary.
Do you accept insurance?
Connecticut is not a licensed state for homebirth midwifery, and insurance rarely reimburses for homebirth care. Clients pay in full, and we can provide a superbill for submission to your insurance. Full reimbursement is highly uncommon, but partial may be possible in rare cases.
Will my insurance reimburse me for homebirth midwifery care?
While some insurance companies say they reimburse for midwifery care, it is important to clarify they are typically referring to Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) who are licensed nurses practicing in hospital settings, licensed birth centers or offer homebirth.
Most traditional homebirth midwives, DEM's, CPM's are not nurses—we are trained and credentialed through professional midwifery organizations outside of the nursing model (such as CPM, LM, or MEAC-accredited pathways).
Because of this, insurance reimbursement for homebirth with a traditional or community midwife is rare and not guaranteed.
At Awakening Traditions, you will pay for services in full. Upon request, we can provide you with a superbill—an itemized invoice with diagnostic codes—that you may submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.
We believe that homebirth midwifery is a deeply valuable investment in your health, sovereignty, and birth experience—and we are committed to transparency around financial expectations from the start.
What is the investment for homebirth midwifery care?
The investment for full-spectrum, traditional homebirth midwifery care with in CT typically ranges between $7,000 and $8,800.
This range reflects factors such as:
• The location and distance of your home from our office
• The level of experience and individualized care provided
• Any additional needs or unique support required throughout your pregnancy and postpartum journey
We honor the depth of this investment and recognize it as a commitment to sovereign, personalized, and ceremonial birth care. Payment plans and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) are accepted, and we are happy to provide documentation for potential insurance reimbursement (though this is rarely granted in full for traditional midwifery in CT—see above).
Are doulas required?
Yes — all first-time birthing parents and those birthing at home for the first time are required to have an experienced doula present. This ensures full-spectrum support and allows me to focus on your clinical and ceremonial safety
What are your additional offerings?
Beyond homebirth, I offer:
• Fertility & preconception consultations
• Blessingway ceremonies
• Belly binding & Closing of the Bones
• Custom yoni steam + tea blends
• Herbal care
• Postpartum ceremony and counseling
• Childbirth education
• Placenta encapsulation
My path as a traditional midwife is not only professional—it is ancestral. This work lives in my Indigenous, Afrikan, and Caribbean bloodlines. While I did attend midwifery college and hold formal clinical training, my deepest calling is to decolonize the womb—to honor women’s bodies as sovereign, sacred, and never in need of saving. I walk this path not for a string of credentials or a million letters after my name, but because I am led by intuition, ancestral wisdom, and God. My care is a sacred braid of clinical excellence, ceremony, spirit, and radical love.
